How to use the templates in Canva

The instructions below cover the following tasks:

Access the templates in Canva for the first time

To use the templates in Canva, your project team will need a "seat" in IREX's Canva for Nonprofits account. Contact Strategic Communications ([email protected]) to gain access.

Choose a template

  1. Go to canva.com and log in with your username/e-mail and password.

  2. Choose a folder of templates in the left sidebar.

Two folders of templates use IREX's brand colors:

Two folders of templates are "neutral," meaning that they do not use IREX's brand colors:

If your project needs to use a different set of logos for particular templates, Strategic Communications can set up the new logo combinations. Please contact [email protected] to discuss options.

  3. A set of templates should appear in the middle of the screen. To select a template, click the template's preview image.

A large preview screen with additional options should appear.

  4. Click the "Use as template" button. (This will allow you to add your content without changing the original template.)

  5. You can now add your content and remove unnecessary items in the screen that appears.

Delete the placeholder photo

Most of the templates include a placeholder photo. You'll need to delete the placeholder photo and add a new one that matches the subject of your social media post.
